Hi all,
This should be an easy one for you VMware gurus
I have a requirement to expand a network from a single
central location out to a large corporate office and I am looking at using Thin
Clients at the new corporate office to reach back into a VMware VDI environment
at the Centralized datacenter where we already have a full blown Vsphere 5
environment for our servers.
I was originally looking at VMware VDI via VDA (http://download3.vmware.com/demos/vdi/)
and was sold on the idea that this would be the right move given all WAN
traffic to the Thin Client desktops would be based on RDP/PCoIP and therefore
not particularly heavy weight.
I have however since looked back at VMWare View and this
looks to do the same thing as the VDI set up and seems to have a lot more
information on it.
I originally thought VMware View Horizon cached the desktop
locally (like bringing a profile to the end user over the WAN) which didn’t sound
too good for traffic congestion etc so I dismissed it straight off!
Can anyone tell me if the VDI via VDA solution has been superseded
by VMWare View Horizon? And if so point me to a definitive guide of VMware View
Thanks in advance
David
