Problems with View Agent 5.2 VMware SVGA II driver 11.9.1.0 and vmx_fb.dll?

Have approx 1500 Windows XP SP3 linked-clones and persistent desktops.

Upgraded from ESXi 5.0 Update 2 and View 5.1.3 to ESXi 5.1.0 1065491 and Horizon View 5.2 and updated the master image to hardware version 9 with View Agent 5.2, VMware Tools version 9.0.5.21789 build 1065307, and using VMware SVGA II Driver 11.9.1.0.

Randomly when a user connects for the first time, or reconnects to their existing session, they are greed with a black PCoIP screen. Looking at the desktop's VM console, we see a 640x480 resolution with 8-bit color. Inspecting the System event log shows entries with "Application popup:  : \SystemRoot\System32\vmx_fb.dll failed to load". We know vmx_fb.dll is related to the VMware SVGA II driver. A reboot does not fix it - upon reboot of a persistent desktop, the VM comes up in the same unusable state.

If we (on a persistent desktop) uninstall agent, reboot, uninstall tools, reboot, install tools, reboot, install agent, reboot, then the problem is corrected and the desktop is usable again.

This happens randomly, is not reproducible, and occurs maybe 15-20 times a day in a user population of 1500. We are experimenting with rolling back the SVGA driver to the 11.7.20.0 version from View 5.1.3 that we were using previously (VMware KB: The PCoIP server log reports the error: Error attaching to SVGADevTap, error 4000: EscapeFailed ). It has been tested and works, so we have a group using a pool composed with the older driver for the week to see how it goes.

Has anyone encountered any similar issue? We have opened a case with Support.
