We have been running View for about a year and are currently running View 5.2. I just downloaded the latest Win7 View optimization guide from VMWare’s website. Attached to it is the latest optimization script to be run on a View desktop. I compared it against the one we ran nearly a year ago and there are some changes. That attached document just lists items in the new script that were not found in the script we ran:
- Big section labeled “Making modifications to .DEFAULT” that includes 17 registry changes
- Twelve more Powershell commands to modify certain Windows services
- More commands in a section labeled “Making miscellaneous modifications”. The original script had all firewall instances (domain, private, and public) turned off. The new script leaves the public and private firewall on. Two other commands fall into this section dealing with the Language Bar and hidden Window Update uninstall files
- A new section to “disable Customer Experience Improvement Program tasks”
Should I consider running the new script on my master images and then doing a recompose?
