Can't get Horizon View 5.3.1 to use Windows CA issued certificate

Hi,

I have installed a Horizon View 5.3 vConnection server and wanted to replace the self signed certificate with one from my MS Enterprise CA (Win 2008 R2 Ent).

I followed the instructions in these two pages, I believe exactly:

Terence Luk: Issuing certificates for VMware Horizon View 5.2 servers with Microsoft Enterprise Certificate Authorityhttp://terenceluk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/issuing-certificates-for-vmware-horizon.html

http://www.derekseaman.com/2012/09/create-vmware-windows-ca-certificate.html

The actual steps I took:

On my Win 2008 R2 Ent CA (stand-alone), I duplicated the Web Server certificate template as Windows 2003 CA compatible.

Changed the key usage to enable non-repudiation and "Allow encryption of user data"

Added Client Authentication to the Application Policies

Confirmed that Subject Name was set to "Supply in Request"

Confirmed the vConnection server's computer account had the required permissions (btw, I have even given it Full Control and the issue persists - this is not a permissions issue)

Added the the new template to the list available to issue (CA MMC>Certificate Templates>New>Certificate Template to Issue)

From the vConnection server I opened the Certificates MMC snap-in, Computer Store

I requested a new Personal certificate from my CA and selected the newly created template

I filled in only the internal FQDN of my vConnection server as CN: [CN="vmwv-vncenctn-01.mydomain.local"]

I set the friendly name and description to "vdm"

I changed the self-signed certificate's friendly name to blank

I restarted the vConnection Windows server just to make sure all necessary services were restarted

I now cannot log into the web management interface on the vConnection serve - Page cannot be found.  If I switch the friendly name vdm back to the original self signed certificate and restart the services, access is restored.

Please can someone help me with this.  I have spent two days tearing my hair out and getting nowhere.

Thanks,

C
