Hi,
I'am involved in a VMWare View project and responsible for the network side.
However, my question relates to the basic design of a view environment.
There are some external consultants involved and in my opinion they don't know what they do,
so maybe you can confirm me here.
Some of you have already experience with view environments >500 clients I suppose?
Question 1:
If you have a Server-Infrastructure and a View-Infrastructure and about 50 virtual server and >500 view clients(recreated every night!) what load you can expect on the vSphere-Server and the SAN?
My Answer: High Load! The SAN must be equipped with SSDs. Also recreate a clients VM every night is in my opinion not a good choice - I prefer once a week. (If there is a need)
Question 2:
Would you deploy a vCenter for View and one vCenter for the server infrastructure? Best Practice always say YES.
My Answer: Also YES. Because this are two different "worlds" or systems - one for SEVER-INFRASTRUCTURE and one CLIENT-INFRASTRUCTURE.
Question 3:
VSAN over a 2GE Etherchannel should never left a lab? (=used productively)
My Answer: Yes! VSAN only over 10GE.
Question 4:
View and multimedia: the CPU usage of clients increases sharply as the ESXI server have no GPU. Does anyone here have experience with Graphics Cards in ESXI servers?
My Answer: No experience.
Question 5:
Has anyone of you experience with clients view over wan? what bandwith do you calculate? the horror scenario in the laboratory is to call Internet content or pictures and movies.
My Answer: No practice experience.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
