We're running VMware View 5.1.3 build-1007228 and our VCenter version is 5.0.
Our VCenter VMware VirtualCenter Repository Data Source resides locally on SQL 2005 Express.
Our VMware View DB resides on a separate full blown SQL 2005 server.
I would like to move the VMWare View DB from the full blown SQL 2005 server to the VCenter server itself after upgrading its SQL 2005 Express to SQL Express 2008 R2 on VCenter.
What would be the recommended steps to do this?
And for the VMware View DB part, if I was to not use the existing current VMware View DB on SQL 2005 and instead just create a new DB on SQL Express 2008 R2 on VCenter and pointing to it from the View connection server, would that work? What information or configuration would I lose if I did it like that? Would it not be functional anymore?
I don't need to retain events because It's for a QA environment.
