First post, new to working with virtual, apologies in advance if posting to the wrong sub!
I perform end user support for our VDI. We use a service called Unidesk, brokered through View and using vSphere as our virtual infrastructure. We use a combination of eVGA PD06 zero clients and repurposed Optiplex towers with Windows ThinPC running the View client. I am attempting to standardize on as many USB peripherals as possible to simplify troubleshooting USB issues when they arise. I am currently looking at wireless mice, which are popular in our organization.
I was wondering if there is a recommended model or brand (from the community, obviously VMware isn't going to sanction/limit to a single vendor!) of RF mouse that has given you positive results. I am still learning a lot about USB redirection and how the virtual USB drivers work for registered devices in the guest OS (Windows 7 x86 for us) versus vendor specific drivers installed on the guest. I'm assuming that the hardware version for the VM impacts this - we run VMX-09 on ESXi 5.1 which is supposed to support USB v1, v2, and v3.0
What considerations have you found for best results with RF devices connecting to a USB receiver? Any general thoughts and feedback appreciated. Thanks! Looks forward to exploring the community more!
