What would cause View to stop communicating with vCenter to perform power on/off of VMs and also for composing. We have has this happen to use twice now over the past 2 weeks. I called support the first time and a cause could not be determined. The fix was to restart all the View connection servers. The second time was yesterday and I had to restart my View connection servers to resolve it. In the meantime we had to power on all our VMs to be sure everyone had their desktop available. End users were still able to connect to their VMs.
This is a list of what we tried before finally restarting the connection servers but none of them resolved the issue.
1. Restart vCenter
2. Restart the Composer server
3. VMware support had walked me through verifying ADAM was working properly
4. VMware support had me create a new desktop pool. It would create the folder in vCenter, but would not actually make the desktops or even the replica.
We are on View 5.2 with vCenter 5.1 build 1473063 and ESX 5.1 build 1743533
Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?
