We have several Linked Clone Pools using Floating Desktops. The Pools are around 50 VMs a piece. Every time I recompose a Pool, a new replica disk is created with no issue. After the new replica disk gets created a handful a Desktops start the recompose process. After the Task: Customize virtual machine Guest OS starts, a few seconds later the Vie Admin Console shows the Status of all Desktops that were recomposing in Error. The Error is: Provisioning error occurred for Machine XXXXXX. Customization operation timed out. Paring state: In paring...
The Desktops will then sit there for a few minutes, and then will reboot back to the desktop and then sit there and then reboot. This process happens several times then the Desktop if automatically deleted and recreated successfully with no errors with the new snapshot. We tried lowering the default Composer and vCenter concurrent operations with no luck as well as upping the vCPUs on the Composer VM and the vCenter appliance to 4 vCPUs with no luck. When the Desktops are in the Error state, I can console into them and I notice that they are disjoined from the Domain and not rejoined (obviously since Sysprep didn't run). I try to log into a Desktop as local admin and cannot and receive a message that the account has been disabled (which the local admin account is not disabled on the Gold image). If I manually delete the Desktop before it is automatically deleted, everything runs fine and the Desktop is recreated and Provisioned successfully.
Any ideas? I have a ticket open with VMware but so far no luck.
