Desktops displayed available in View Admin but failed to login using View Client

Hi all,

This is my first time trying to get support from VMware Community.

Currently I own a View 6.0.1 infrastructure and have a manual pool inside. It is all based on vSphere 5.5.

I imported a Windows 7-based vCenter VM into this pool and had somebody entitled & assigned.

He is usually doing very well with his VM using PCoIP but sometimes get error message on his View Client as below:

The assigned desktop source for this desktop is not currently available.

Please try connecting to this desktop again later, or contact your system administrator.

At the mean time I checked the web management portal, or View Administrator, and came to find this desktop displayed AVAILABLE.

It was very unreasonable. I asked him to login his VM from vCenter console and he did it successfully with View Administrator still reporting AVAILABLE.

I telnet-ed port 4001 of the connection server from this VM and it was responsive. He could not take over his own login session using View Client, though.

As he logged out from the vCenter console and tried View Client again, this time View Client worked.

I was confused about two points and would like to ask experts here for help:

  1. While we logged in the VM from vCenter console and perform telnet connection test, why was this VM sitll displayed AVAILABLE in View Administrator? Should it be reported as connected from console or some other status?
  2. Initially View Client failed, but worked well after we logged in & out that VM without doing anything. What could be the cause why initial connection failed?

Any reply are very well appreciated.
