Does anyone have a way to make this work? I have about 300 users that need to be assigned a static IP for each user. Currently we are using full clones with static IP's. We want to move to a floating linked clone pool. When I searched I found a post with this link to get the static IP on a linked clone. https://www.jasonpearce.com/2012/04/13/vmware-view-static-ip-addresses-for-linked-clones/ I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and solved it. Or if there are any other suggestions out there on how to do this.
The only way I could think of doing this would be an auto assigned pool or multiple pools with auto assigned pool to segregate the users. So, user group x gets ip 1-10 and user group y get 11-20. I think that by using this script it could be done that way. But we are looking for a way to do this with one floating pool. Is there a way to assign the IP to the user so no matter which workstation the user logs on to the get the same IP every time?
EDIT: I see that EUM VMware User Environment Manager can do so cool stuff based on user. Is there a way to use this with a log on script that maps the ip and a log off script to return to DHCP?
