I am implementing View for a small office of about 8 people. I started by building a Windows 7 VM, set a snapshot and then setup my pool. I created a pool of 3 VMs and when they finally got spun up I couldn't connect to them because they couldn't activate the license for Windows.
I tracked down about 15 threads of people saying setup a KMS server but then they all say the KMS server won't hand out licenses until you hit 25 requests.
VM Ware is selling the VMware View 5 Premier Bundle Starter Kit which comes with 10 licenses and is meant for small businesses so shouldn't they have an easier solution for using MAK keys?
I won't be regenerating the VMs. They will remain static and I will never hit 25 requests on the KMS server.
I sent a request for support on how to use MAK keys to VM but I am a very impatient person so I thought I would ask the question here on how people are handling this.
I also need to do the same with Office 2012 and activation.
Is my best bet to setup the KMS server and setup a pool of 8 VMs and reset them 3 times to hit the 25 limit and then when I spin them up for the 4th time I will start to get licenses?
Last question. My KMS keys for Server 2008 and Windows 7 are different so can I enter the KMS key I got for Windows 7 into my KMS 2008 Server without messing up the MAK key I already used to activate the 2008 box?
Thanks!
